Stay Warm and Look Great on Your Northern European Trip

Stay Warm and Look Great on Your Northern European Trip

Europe is a beautiful area full of history and ancient structures. While southern European countries may be warmer the close you get to the Mediterranean, the further north, like the Scandinavian area, can bring on brutal winters but also breathtaking beauty. When visiting these countries, it's essential to make sure you're prepared by packing for the season. With everything you pack, toss in a few pairs of long johns for women. Whether your shopping in Stockholm or exploring the northern wilds of Norway, thermals will be one of the primary things you'll pack.

What to Wear and How to Pack

Traveling by plane these days is nowhere what it used to be. You won't be able to bring a few suitcases full of matching luggage for a trip, and trying to get everything you need in one bag and a carry on is challenging. At the same time, you definitely want to look fashionable as you get off the plane, if it's cold, it won't matter if you're shivering. Here is a fail-proof list of all the essential things to bring for your wintry northern European trip.

The Basic List to End All Lists

Even if traveling to Europe in the winter months, your essential carry on shouldn't change much. The first and foremost is underwear. Start your packing with these and then the rest of your basics.

Things to Add:

‣ Thermal leggings for women and other thermals. These will be the best and most essential part of your wardrobe. They can be worn under your regular clothes and double as pajamas in case the heating at your hotel isn't up to par. A pair of wool or synthetic thermals will do the trick. You'll only need one pair in your carry on as they're lightweight, and you can quickly change before deboarding the plane.

Things to Take Out:

‣ Sweaters or cardigans. Though they may be comfortable and look great, they also take up a lot of space. Your carry on is limited.  So, put the sweaters in with the checked luggage.

Black Never Goes Out of Fashion

No matter how you feel about other colors, black goes with everything. You can easily match it with anything, and best of all, your long johns for women also come in this popular color.

Boots, not Shoes

As comfortable as your sneakers maybe, add on a pair of comfortable slip-on boots for the win for a better winter experience. They'll be easier to slip on and off at the airport checkouts and will be better at keeping your feet warm and, most importantly, dry in the snow. Plus, they look great with a pair of thermal leggings for women. It's a win all-around.

Don't forget socks, gloves, hats, and other gear you would typically wear during the winter. Ultimately, thermals are number one as a base layer. Most of your winter gear will fit best in your checked luggage and will make your European trip fun, exciting, and, most all, memorable.
